What have we been doing- oh yes the house was finalised yesterday, YEAH!! no more mortgage and we went for a lovely drive up the mountain to Dorrigo. A road with lots of signs "narrowing road", "road work ahead" "one lane only" and No Caravans but lots of big trucks. The road is called Waterfall Way- so lots of waterfalls. Most of these waterfalls you can't get close enough to take photos as there is no where to pull over. A lovely drive on a cold day. We stopped at Dorrigo to have an silent fight over something stupid, Ness had a Hot Chocolate and we both had scones for the cafe had a $15 eftpos minimum. A nice little town, where you can not help over hear very one's conversation about a recent car accident and a local died. It does have a junk shop which if it was open we would still be there- he had everything, from ashtrays to zebra statues. I'm sure some of the railway signs were originals, which may account for some close shaves with cars and trains. We were pretty sure he had just about every grandmother's collection of green glass bowls etc. Dangar Falls is very close to the town and it was pretty.
We then went to Dorrigo National Park. Walked on the skywalk, for all the other skywalks this one was free and in Ness's words pretty speckey. We did the canopy walk to look for all sorts of birds but we only found very noisy children and parents telling them to "be quiet you are scaring all the birds away" The rainforest was beautiful. The picnic area was empty and while we ate our lunch; lots of wrens, finches and bush turkeys joined us. It was too cold for anyone else to eat lunch out in the open. It was a lovely and the cold wouldn't have been that bad had I not forgot a jump/jacket.
Our next stop was a lookout called Griffith's Lookout. From this point you can see New England National Park and way off in the distance we could see Blue Knob (we had lunch last week) just poking its blue top above everything else. Then it was back down the hill, a little wave to the traffic controllers (ness making some little remark about standing out in the cold)and we made it back to the highway.
Today we went grocery shopping and to the local produce markets. Best curry puffs ever!! They were amazing delightful spicy scrumptious- yum. We will stop in Coffs again just for the curry puffs. That was about it- chatted with our german neighbours while their kids teased the cat. The ducks came for afternoon tea which puss didnt want to give them and the peewee's attacked her. So I think Scarlia is looking forward to moving on tomorrow until she gets in the car.
Catch you all later
