Today we sit, I wouldn't say locked up by the weather but it has closed in and made everything very wet. We left Coffs Harbour behind on Friday and did one of our really exhausting trips of about 92kms to New Italy, an interesting museum but not a great place to stopover. They have a cafe that the minimum eftpos is $20. Along with 3 other vans and 3 mini-vans also a car or two, we settled in for the night. The toilets are behind the buildings (cafe and Museum) and it can be very dark, also make lots of noise so others can hear you coming. It rained very heavy during the night, yes that can be noisy but the worse part of it was the trucks as they drove pass, they blow their horns. No, it wasn't one of the better free camping sites.
We set off early on Saturday morning- straight after the coffee fix. We made it in to Bryon Bay about 10am, found a pet friendly park, hooked up power and water and was sitting in front of a great breakfast by 11am. We then wandered around the shops- not really interested as it is all for really skinny under 25 girls, Ness complained she didn't get the same service as this other young lady, I explained that she didn't have the haircut, the figure, the boobs oh and yes you are over 25. She was very disappointed. We also noted a lot more smokers in Bryon Bay but this could be cause there is a large number of under 25 females. It was decide to get back into the car and go for a drive. Lets go to Nimbin. So we went to Nimbin via Lismore. Nimbin is Nimbin, if you have not been to Nimbin you must go. It was the home of the Aquarius Festival in 1973-you all know peace, love, and flower power. Some of the hippies stayed and some created the cannabis museum, this large store has everything about cannabis: history, things made from cannabis, things made to use with cannabis and unofficially cannabis, it is located in the main street. Nimbin is also a great place to watch the colourful people of this world play their drums in the street catch some rays of sunshine or chatting with others. You either love it or...... Ness and I don't love it and we wouldn't live in the area but something about it draws you in again and again. Anyway we had a pleasant afternoon in Nimbin along with a busload of retirees and a bus load of backpackers not sure who was worse. Ness brought a great top and I brought a great book of poetry. It was back to Bryon, and attack the local woolies. Ness pretended to be 20 but couldn't do the giggle, and so we stood in line waiting patiently to be served, while the group of girls behind the older gentlemen and Korean young man got to start a new line as a young "flick the hair out of my eyes" man opened another register. The ohh to be young- nah don't really want to be.
So we had dinner and the rain started,it rained most of the night and the morning. We are moving on to Hastings Point this afternoon. The cat goes into the Kennels for a week today and we start our course tomorrow morning.
Catch you all later
