Our last day in the Kempsey area. The car took us to South West Rocks to be precise Trial Bay Goal. It is a nice place to visit on a sunny day. Could imagine how cold it was during the middle of winter. We had a great time wandering the buildings. For anyone how doesn't know, us included, it was built as a goal in 1880's. No convicts. The prisoners were to build a break wall that never got built. Then it was used as a interment camp during WW1 mainly German and Hungarian, they were all considered well to do gentlemen. What we found was interesting was the women and children were sent to Bourke and sailors were sent Berrimah NSW and most men were deported back to Germany in 1919 (they allowed 33 men stay for they were born in Australia). We had lunch at the local hotel, cheap but huge and delicious meal. We then sat for an hour waiting and waiting for Jess to cross the finish line. Congrats to Jess, she's got more go than a lot of people double her age.
We left before she crossed, at least when people say, in ten years time, where were you when Jess came into Sydney Harbour; we will be able to say South West Rocks pub.
Driving back to Kempsey we stopped at the Old Butter Factory. It is now a store with some nice wood furniture and knick knack things. We brought some little elephant candles- very cute. We made a stop at a lookout over Kempsey and down near the bridge. The signs are up for the By-pass but I doubt that will happen for some time.
We got back to the van before sunset for change and missed Jess stepping on to dryland by a few minutes. Ness didn't want to watch the Premier of NSW as she has an American accent.
Not going to put photos on here for a little while, until I find a quick way to do it. I was sitting in front of the screen for ages yesterday. We move onto Coffs Harbour tomorrow- we don't tell the cat until we are ready to move. We are currently sitting in bed watching Independence Day bring on the heroes. Catch you all later.
